Filtrexx® SiltSoxx™ is the original tubular mesh used to contain composted media for a variety of erosion control and stormwater management applications. Research abounds on the use of compost for environmental applications. For more detailed information about our technology, explore the core courses at Filtrexx University.

Let Nature Do It®

The compost filter sock is designed to Mimic Nature®. This simple but ingenious system provides valuable ecosystem services by harnessing the following natural design principles:

  • Containment
  • Filtration
  • Retention
  • Detention
  • Energy dissipation
  • Vegetation establishment

The ONLY compost filter sock in compliance with:

Filtrexx Mesh

Aperture size matters. Filtrexx offers over 40 mesh materials ranging in size and strength to meet your project needs, including our new biodegradable 100% cotton BioSoxx™. Filtrexx compost filter sock meets or exceeds all federal and state specifications.

Five specifications to look for

Our multiple patents include these specifications:

  • Material Type
  • Design Diameter
  • Mesh Opening
  • Tensile Strength
  • Functional Longevity

Filtrexx Media

Only Filtrexx FilterMedia is certified to meet the necessary flow-through rates specified by both the EPA and most state regulators. Filtrexx can design a custom media blend of FilterMedia and GrowingMedia to achieve the desired balance of filtration and plant growth for any environmental, landscape, or agricultural application.

FilterMedia™

Filtrexx® FilterMedia™ is designed for optimum filtration and hydraulic flow. It is used for most Filtrexx sediment and erosion control applications.

Alternate FilterMedia™

Filtrexx® Alternate FilterMedia™ is typically a non-composted wood chip product, which is suitable for sediment and erosion control applications, but is not recommended for pollutant removal other than sediment. See TechLink #3330 for more info.

GrowingMedia™

Filtrexx® GrowingMedia™ is designed for optimum vegetative growth. GrowingMedia is used in Filtrexx vegetated sediment and erosion control applications. It is also used inside GardenSoxx® for agriculture applications.

Targeted Pollutant Removal

Filtrexx can incorporate one or more natural additives to the FilterMedia™ to increase the removal of specific pollutants, including:

  • 92% of nutrients (Nitrogen & Phosphorus)
  • 99% of coliform bacteria (E coli and other coliforms)
  • 73% of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn)
  • 99% of hydrocarbons (oil & grease, diesel, gasoline)
